In the ICC World T20 Pakistan is playing their first match against Bangladesh tomorrow. Pakistan selectors have made some mistake which can cost the defending champion their title. The first blunder they made is by not taking Shoiab Akhtar to Caribbean. He was fit enough to bowl in Pentangular Cup recently held in Pakistan and take 6 wickets in a match. In t20 a bowler has to bowl just 4 overs and he had proved that he is at least that much fit. The second blunder is to take cricketers such as Salman Butt and Fawad Alam to the tournament. Those both players don’t have the abilities for such high pitch, hyper and powerful cricket. It is not about just showing skill but showing skill with power in very short time. Imran Nazir was a very good choice for opening but for some odd reason he was dropped and Salman Butt was preferred over him. He might have some family ties with Pakistan Cricket Board’s chairman Ijaz Butt. Another scandalous mistake was by not taking young bowler Mohammad Irfan who is the tallest ever cricketer and could have been lethal in Caribbean with the extra bounce he gets of the pitch. Inface he was selected by the selection committee with the recommendation by coach and captain but that decision was over ruled yet again by Mr Ijaz Butt in the favour of spinner Abdul Rehman.
If pakistan wins in Caribbean for this one man decision taken by Ijaz Butt he will rightly deserve our applauds but if they fail we have no one else to blame so he should get ready for that.
Pakistan cricket would be in much better condition if the chairman of the board is not appointed politically rather elected like our neighbor India.
